Despite fervent hopes, best wishes, and good intentions, the lives of the Baudelaire siblings continue to get worse. Evidence of this -- and more -- can be found in this ungainly box of books, which contains the three latest and most upsetting volumes in the New York Times best-selling series: The Slippery Slope, The Grim Grotto, and Book the Twelfth. You’d be better off buying a box with more uplifting contents, such as a helium balloon, a set of barbells, or three happier books.
